|Title:||A Rare Double Back Yew Wood Windsor Settee|
|Size:||H 39in x W 42.5in x D 23in|
|Price:||Price On Request|
A rare double back yew wood and mahogany gothic windsor settee from the Thames Valley region of England, circa 1760. The front cabriole legs are joined to the rear splayed and turned legs by crinoline stretchers. The shovel shaped double seat is made of mahogany with incised edging. Considered the "Best" form of Windsor, this settee rates among the finest of its type. More information is noted in "Windsor Chairs", by Michael Harding Hill ppg 80-85. The tracery design of the yew wood splats is typical of the much sought after gothic windsor chair group.
