A George II gesso carved pier mirror with eagle carved crest. The pediment with central Prince of Wales plume is flanked by carved eagle heads grasping floral sprays over a two part mirror. The border of the mirror is carved with delicate floral and geometric patterns surrounded by punchwork. The centralpanel is further enhanced with a basket of flowers. This incredibly fine mirrorretains its original gilt surface. A 19th century Philadelphia retailers label is attached to the back of the crest. English, circa 1740 or earlier. Plates are restored.
