|Title:||A Rare Chinese Tea Table|
|Size:||H 29.5in x W 28.5in x D 28.5in|
A rare Chinese export hardwood tilt top table designed after the traditional English prototype from the 18th century. The "Lotus" shaped top with carved edge rests on a tilt and turn "Birdcage" mechanism on a baluster carved standard supported by carved cabriole legs ending in shell carved toes. This is a unique table made for a wealthy Englishman living in the orient. Few tables of this sort were ever made and fewer have survived in such fine condition. Chinese or Export, circa 1760.
