A very rare set of six Massachussetts mahogany Hepplewhite period chairs carved by Samuel McIntire. The crests with punchwork backgrounds are relief carved with baskets of fruit and foliate sprays over interlaced backs with channel molding on serpentine seats supported by square, tapered legs. The seats now covered in very fine "sapphire" damask with bright nails. Nearly identical to known and important examples. Additional research available.
