|Title:||A Superb Walnut George II Settee|
|Size:||H 38.5in x W 68in x D 24in|
A rare triple chair back settee possibly by Giles Grendy with lion paw feet in an old patinated surface. The crests are carved with shell and vine panels over cabriole shaped figural walnut splats. The arms are scroll carved with finely detailed floral motifs. The front cabriole legs are carved with equally fine and unusual acanthus leaves producing floral sprays. The most unusual aspect of this piece is the complex molded, bell shaped seat rail. The slip seat is original. English, circa 1730.
