An 18th Century English Painted Armchair
SE000868
H 36.5in x W 24in x D 19in
An 18th century stone colored caned oval back English fauteuil attributed to the workshop of Ince and Mayhew. The underside of the chair has "Cramp" marks and "planking" holes for construction and delivery to clients. Thomas Chippendale employed the same techniques as exhibited in this example. A very close companion to this chair is featured in "Indusrty and Ingenuity, The Partnership of W Ince and J Mayhew" by Roberts and Cator, pg 367, pl 335.
