A rare Adam period giltwood oval mirror with gadrooned border and molded inner liner with divided border glasses. An urn and flame finial with foliate carved scrolled crest is flanked by leaf carved bellflowers and draperies in the apron with carved rams head in the traditional Adam manner. The whole retains an old, if not original, gilt surface. This is "The" mirror featured in "Georgian Furniture & Looking Glasses" by F. Lewis Hinckley; Plate 119-#248.
